So I'm currently sitting on a waitlist for my state school, and I'm unsure what to do if I don't get in.

Some background:
The school I'm on the waitlist for is located in the city I currently live. My wife is in grad school within the med school's undergrad, so it is a major pull for me since if I get in her and I can continue to live in the same city with her. This past cycle I actually applied to this medical school only because I don't want to spend the first couple years of marriage apart from my wife. She graduates in May 2019.

My plan right now is this: If I don't get in this go around, I will apply again this summer for this state school only and if that doesn't work again, I will apply very broadly next summer since my wife will be out of school and able to move around with me. Any advice on this? Is that a good plan or should I go ahead and apply broadly now? I'm only 23.

Stats: MCAT 510, GPA 3.6, a lot of clinical hours as an ED scribe, many volunteer hours at local free clinic, undergrad research

Yours is an atypical case but reasonable to do the single reapply. I would spend time until you get accepted enhancing your record
Thank you for the advice. I plan on getting more extensive shadowing hours and some new physician LORs. Probably will take some extra classes as well. It is just so unnerving only applying to one school when I see people on this forum applying to 30+. I appreciate the advice!
