I received my 9th interview invite today, as you can imagine I am very excited. I've only interviewed at 2 schools so far and have not heard back from them yet. My issue right now is that I have to schedule these interviews around starting a new job, I don't want to take a bunch of days off since I'm new and still in the orientation phase. Should I start canceling interviews at schools I'm less inclined to attend?

Not an easy choice .But I'd like to urge you to give chances to your interviews- you have a pike of them! I understand the financial situations of most of us...but you only get so many interviews ONCE!...

I started a job at the ER right around when the application cycle opened and I had told them ahead of time that I may have to travel for interviews during the job interview. Take the opportunity to go to these interviews and just make up for the lost time with back to back shifts or whatever they require but I wouldn't put your future career in jeopardy. Obviously this doesn't mean you should take weeks off at a time and be unreasonable, but I would just be honest with them about the situation.

I am into a similar situation myself with 4 II's. Obviously my situation is less problematic than yours as 4 interviews are more doable. However, scheduling the interview for your top school early in the cycle could hopefully get you to cancel most of your later ones if you gain an acceptance.

I understand this, but I also consider myself broke and unemployed until i'm not broke and unemployed. I'm kinda in a tough spot. I hope some of these schools get back to me soon that i've already interviewed at.

Congrats on the interview. You seem like a strong candidate. Did you only apply DO schools and if so what were your stats if you are willing to share.

You simply can't take for granted that you will be accepted at the schools you interviewed at.

I sympathize with your predicament. But what will you do if you're waitlisted or worse, rejected?

This. I kept going till I had that golden ticket in hand.

You will only be at that job for at most a year. I would say go to all 9 even if you have to take the first 2 weeks off, money permitting of course, because those interviews are an investment in your future. Unless the school was a true backup and you have no interest in attending then I would attend them all even if I was sitting on 4-5 acceptances. This is coming from someone that cancelled 5 interviews after 2 acceptances. There is always that what if. This way you know for sure
