Hey SDN,

Im a sophmore with a 3.87, taking MCAT next summer, i aced my freshman year where i took all my pre reqs minus ochem and physics. Last semester my GPA dropped from a 4.0 to a 3.87, and this semester im looking at a 3.5 term GPA. Is it time for a new major?

If you don't like the major, change it, if not, there's no reason to switch. Keep up the good work.

But is this a red flag that I might not get in to med school?

Did your GPA drop because of ochem and physics? Those are tough classes for many. If your major has nothing to do with either one of those classes, then your GPA should go back up your junior year.

If your current major is totally destroying you, then yes, get out. If you get the occasional disappointing grade now and then, stick it out and you might enjoy and do better in the upper level classes of your major.

Well I have an A in all my pre reqs and Ochem 1 i got my first B and Ochem 2 im lookin at an A right now, i take phy next semster. statistics, cell biology, and religions are what gave me B's
