I am in the middle of the applicaton process and I have been recruited by a company. I must take this position, because this is the only job that I have found that pays enough to pay down my debt before medical school starts. However, this means taking incompletes in my current classes. I will have the time to finish up the classes early next year. Does anyone know how this should be handled? Do I call each school and inform them of what is going on? If I get incompletes for this semester, will this kill my chances of getting into a medical school?

Thanks

Actually, I think it probably will. It depends on what classes you'll be missing, and how much debt you are talking about. If it's the kind of debt that will prevent you from taking out student loans, then you should try explaining that to your schools and ask to defer. OR you should explain the situation and see if they will accept you without a degree (as long as you have 90+ semester hours and have completed all the pre-reqs, you might have a chance, but your story will have to be compelling, I imagine).

I don't really know what the best course of action is, but that's my uneducated guess! 🙂

Sorry, I should have said that these are postbacc courses, and I already have a degree. Also, I have already finished all my pre-reqs for medical school.

Call the medical schools. They are going to be the best source to answer your questions.

Good luck!
