hello, I switched from Premed to PreDent very recently (if you want more background you can read http://more.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=9200514). I am fortunate enough to have found many dentists that I can shadow. However, I dont think I will be able to find a dental volunteering opportunity. I already have over 100 hours of medical volunteering and I was wondering if I actually need dental specific volunteering.

Shadowing is definitely good, and it sounds like you have places to do so.

In terms of dental-specific volunteering...it is not needed, although it wouldn't hurt.

I think some non-dental non-medical community service ( public library, shelter....) would be very helpful.
