Need some help

Hi everyone. I am actually a student who applied for the US medical schools in June of 2004 (for the entering class of 2005) and was waitlisted at 3 schools. I didnt reapply this past year but would like to reapply this upcoming June for the class of 2007. The problem is, is that I have been attending a Carribean school for the past year. I was wondering if anyone currently in a US medical school has done that before and if so how did they go about doing it. I am not even sure if it is allowed. Any information or insight you might have would be appreciated. Thank you. Also, I am not trying to transfer. I would start all over again. Thanks.

One of my friends quit attending medical school in Mexico to come to medical school here. So yes, it does happen. Your best bet I think is to ask some of the schools that you are interested in attending whether they find it acceptable. They almost certainly will not let you transfer-you will have to start over again scratch.

I know someone who did a year at a British school before starting over here. I suppose some might look askance at it, but others might actually see it as an advantage...?

I would make inquiries at specific schools.

Thank you very much for responding. Yes, I was planning to contact that school specifically however, i just wanted to make sure it was possible. I am also hoping that the schools will not look down upon it or not want to review my application b/c of it. The school I am particulary concerned with is a school in California and I know they are bit more competitive. Thank you once again for all your help. Wish me luck.

Dude, are you sure you want to start all over after you've already spent a year in the Caribbean? I mean that's a lot of time, money, and effort gone. What specialty are you looking into?
