Okay, so I'm looking for any types of jobs or research positions for the summer to gain experience. I got rejected by some REU's and so far research positions are hard to find (I'm an undergrad). But I found this one internship that is a neuropsych related one. I would do neuropsych testing, work with neuropsychologists, work with patients, help with research, and maybe get a chance if I can do enough research to get a co authorship of somesort. I am really interested in neuropsych so it all sounds good right? Well its unpaid and I'd be working full time for 10 weeks. Is it worth it? Thank you!

It's worth it if you can afford it.

If you don't already have research experience, it's priceless! Maybe you could work part time if you really need the money, but don't expect to take on a full-time job or anything. I say it's definitely worth it if you need the experience and you're interested in it!

Seconded what has already been said. Depending on your financial situation it is totally worth it. You'll see returns in the long term not only in terms of your competitiveness for graduate school but also in terms of your ability to get a paying job in research down the road.

2 things I would add-- you should scope out what the potential is to continue to work for this lab in a paid capacity later on (perhaps this is possible or even likely). Also, a number of schools have undergrad 'grants' which basically provide a smallish stipend (~2-3k for a summer) for students to do certain types of work (e.g. research or community service, etc). I would check with your financial aid office, community service office, and the psych/neuro departments at your school.

Finally, be creative with your housing situation and you could make it feasiible (sublets can often be had for quite cheap. multiple roommates, commuting from home if possible, etc are also options). Good luck with everything!

Thank you and the other 2 posters for your feedback!

I do have some research experience but its only working with other student projects and my own class projects. Nothing professional 😛 As for money, I do have a part time job which I'm hoping will give me consistent weekend hours. I am pretty tight with money but if I can work weekends for the summer and get some money from my school, I might be able to make it.

But I never thought of thinking of checking with financial aid and places like that so thank you for the advice!
