Really need some help. I applied this cycle and have only had one interview, and no acceptances. Though the cycle is not over I am already preparing for next cycle. My question is what I should do for the year. I applied with a 3.6 GPA, 3.55 sGPA, 19AA. I know my DAT is a little low, but I still thought I had a chance this year. Now I have been looking into 1 year masters programs, but someone told me with a 3.6 GPA to not do this, is that true? I feel like working won’t help my application. What can I do to improve my application and advice?

No need for a masters with that GPA.

If I was you, I would retake the DAT and shoot for 20+, take 1 or 2 upper level classes like anatomy or histology, volunteer on the weekends, and maybe find a job after you're done with the DAT.

And next cycle apply early and broadly to a wide range of schools. I'm not sure how many you applied to but 10+ would be a good amount in my opinion.

Go back and scrub your PS statements and LORs. Your GPA and DAT scores are normal and you should have had an acceptance. How late did you apply? Are you Canadian? How many schools did you apply to?

Wouldn't you be better off asking the ds in question what you can do to improve your chances?

I agree with wired202808, your stats are normal and you should've seen interviews/acceptances. More info regarding your app would help. Is there anything academically that raises a red flag on your app? How much field experience do you have? Research? CLubs? Leadership positions? Look into the individual schools. If you're shooting for the ivy's, def retake the DAT.

You need to apply to the right schools and you really need to have an awesome personal statement. I think my personal statement really made my application stand out. Just try to make it different than the thousands of other ones they read.

Apply to the right schools and apply on June 1st!! I have the same exact stats as you and I got 8 interviews. Hang in there

I'm not Canadian, and I applied the first week of July. My personal statement seemed good to everyone that I had read over it for me. I am involved in several on campus clubs, and am the President of one. I only had around 30-40 hours of shadowing, but had around 200 hours of volunteer work. I felt like I would have had more interviews at least. Could I be getting hurt by the fact that even though I will graduate with a degree in May I'm only 20, (21 in may)?

I applied to 12 schools, including Case, Creighton, LECOM, Marquette, Midwestern, ASDOH, Temple, Iowa to name a few. Are these the wrong schools?

Thanks for the help from everybody!

Well no one knows the rest of your DAT breakdown. For everyone that's saying she has average stats and should have hhad more interviews, you don't know if OP had a 15 in RC. Just an AA score doesn't give you much of an idea.

Those are the right schools though. Hope you included tufts, nyu, midwestern IL,and the 2 new schools opening next year.

Just to clarify my DAT breakdown was:
PAT-17
QR-18
RC-22
Bio-20
Gen and org- 17
AA:19

So I'm guessing the 17 are killing me. Back to the topic at hand though any suggestions on what to do if/when I don't get accepted this year. I was thinking a 1 year masters originally but maybe I should look at something else. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes those 17's are definitely holding you back. You don't have to do a masters, don't waste your money. Your GPA is fine. Take a few post bac classes like anatomy or microbiology or something like that. RETAKE THE DAT. That's the main answer to your situation. And use Chad's videos, that will get you a 20+ on the gen chem and ochem sections.
