Hello All,

I am a current applicant this cycle. But with a 25 mcat (8/9/8) and being complete at most schools in October, I am well aware that I may be reapplying next year. I am aiming to retake the mcat in March, and just wanted to get some tips from those of you applied and simultaneously interviewed/re-took mcat, or are planning to do the same right now. How did you deal with the uncertainty of applying and keeping yourself motivated to keep studying also? Your fate can change at any moment with one interview call and one acceptance, or you may end up with nothing and be faced with improving and reapplying. How did you continue to stay focused and motivated during the uncertainty, as well as keep studying for the mcat/improving your app in other ways? I know this has happened to many, so please do share your insight :)

Bump. I know many people on SDN have gone through this type of in between phase. Please share your input, encouragement, anything. :)

Well the general census is to remain calm. It's a long cycle. Other than that, you're MCAT is a little below or around the average for the DO schools but I guess it depends on what schools you applied to. Good luck.

You should assume you won't receive an acceptance and do everything you can to make your application better. Then if you get an acceptance you can take it easy, otherwise you're putting yourself in position for an acceptance next year. As far as MCAT, 25 is a good starting point and getting a point or two more in the biology and physical sciences section is easily possible. That puts you to an 27-29 and very likely an acceptance next year. There is still a lot of time left this year so don't give up yet, just prepare for the worst. GOOD LUCK

Thank you everyone for your advice and encouragement. I am trying to stay positive and focus! It's hard knowing you have some interviews but would have way more at more schools of choice if your mcat was higher!

Have to echo the sentiment of just putting your head down and killing your MCAT studying. If you half ass it thinking you might get accepted this cycle you're selling yourself short for next cycle. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.
