How exactly do medical schools calculate/view your GPA? I know all about the sGPA and cumulative GPA, but I have heard that they only look at the most recent 120 credits when determining this? I am almost done with my postbacc/masters and am set to graduate with a GPA of around 3.5, which for the program is good. I have an excellent upward trend in my undergrad GPA and even in my masters GPA. So I just want to know how I can epect the numbers to work out. Thanks!

3.5 cumulative gpa, or 3.5 graduate gpa + sub-par undergrad gpa?

Also, graduate level coursework is not factored into your undergrad. gpa - it has its own category.

3.5 graduate, all science intensive. over 60 credits in 2 semesters.

Since you cross-posted this in pre-osteo, here's the relevant portion of the AACOMAS instructions.

From my understanding, Med Schools calculate your GPA based on your undergraduate courses only. The graduate courses don't factor into your GPA. However, schools still see your postbac/masters grades, so having an upward trend definitely helps. Secondly, med schools calculate your science GPA and your non-science GPA. You can look on the AAMC website to find which courses count as science courses.

Now, osteopathic schools and allopathic schools slightly differ in how they calculate repeat courses and which courses they consider science courses.

We see your transcript, and your year by year performance, as well as cGPA and sGPA.

Many schools give more weight to the last 2-3 years.

You should be fine as a candidate.

Okay great, I notice some schools (both MD and DO) are more upfront about this than others. My upward trend looks really great my Junior and Senior years and my upward trend in my postbacc/masters looks good too so this gives some hope.
