Hi, everyone,

I'm currently applying medical school and scheduled a meeting with dean of admission of my top choice. It's a information-gathering meeting. I want a little bit of his imput regarding my case, (my chance of getting in ...) I want to give him a good impression but don't want to be an ass-kisser. What kind of questions will be appropriate to ask him? The following is the questions I have in mind:
1. Introduce myself a little bit, (major, GPA...), what my chances are to for getting in. What advice you can give me.

2. If I don't get in this year, what can I do to improve my chance for next year?

3. Ask him how he likes his specialty.

What do you guys think about these questions? Any other questions can I ask?

Thanks and good luck to everyone.

Ask specific questions about the med school...things you can't find on their website and stuff.

personally, i wouldn't ask these questions, because 1) he can gather your major and GPA from your app., and you probably already know the answers to questions 1 and 2, and really, do you care about question 3, and 2) the dean most likely is asked these questions frequently by anxious applicants. i'm assuming your goal is to somehow distinguish yourself from the rest of the applicant pool so that you may have some small "edge" when it comes to admissions decisions. i suggest you check out the questions listed on the AAMC website. a little bit more original, more comprehensive and you can tweak them in any way you want so as to fulfill your needs.

good luck.
