So I have been studying my butt off over the summer in preparation for taking the DAT in about a month, and in getting wrapped up in my studies i feel that i have missed out on this cycle completely. Its kinda freaking me out.

I just would love to know the big picture on when im supposed to apply by and have everything ready so that I don't miss out on the next cycle.

I am in my Senior Year, I have a 3.5 overall gpa, and a 3.4 sgpa--and like as i said im taking the DAT in a month or so.

Can anyone point me to a thread that spells out the whole process in detail by sort of a timeline. Like when is the earliest submissions dates for primary and secondary apps, in addition to when my Dat scores should be in?

Is it too late for me?

It's hard to believe that someone on the path to dentistry is this behind with the application process. Here is my first advice, use the search feature for your question.

Anyway, the applications opened up June, and at this point you should submit your application ASAP. I don't know if you even started on it but you will need to put time into your PS, and the rest of your application. Don't forget the LOR's that you will need from your pre-health committee or professors.

Taking your DAT's in a month means d-schools won't get the scores until 1-2 weeks later. That will be Oct, which isn't that bad but keep in mind its rolling admissions so any delay will only hurt you. Most schools won't review your application until your DAT scores are in so once again, get your application in ASAP since that can take AADSAS anywhere from 1-4 weeks.

If you intend to apply to this cycle with good chances, you need to basically get everything in as quickly as you can. Good luck.

Hey i appreciate the info. I think that my head wasnt screwed on straight on what seems like pretty obvious deadlines. I'm wondering if it would be a better choice to take a month or 2 more to study for the DAT, get the rest of my shadowing hours in, get my GPA up a bit, and generally give the application process the time it deserves.

I am kinda dissapointed with myself, but what are you gonna do right?

how are you going to get your gpa up before the end of the semester?

do u have your personal statement done?

Your GPA is fine, with 20+ scores you will have a chance at interviews. I would be more concerned on how long it will take for you to fully submit your apps and then the waiting time for AADSAS to send them.

I think what i meant by "Get my GPA up a bit" is that I have mainly heavy unit science courses over my last 2 semesters that i hope will raise my GPA (assuming i get A's)

No, I dont have my Personal Statement done and to be honest i believe that finishing my studying for the DAT added upon the application process will stress the crap outta me.

Thanks for the info--I know I will be better prepared for next cycle.
