Hello to everyone!

I'm really excited thinking about getting into dental schools!
I'm taking my DAT on June 26th, but I will send in my application before I take my DAT. 🙁
Thus, I'll need to "predict" my DAT score and finalize my list of schools to apply for.
Here are my current stats:
- Illinois Resident
- cGPA: 3.74
- sGPA: 3.71
- BCP: 3.62
- 3 Excellent letters of recommendations (2 Professors, 1 Dentist)
- Undergraduate research that COULD be connected to a field of dentistry
- 100+ hours of shadowing a dentist at a non-for-profit mobile dental clinic
- 100+ hours of as a volunteer dental assistant at the same clinic
- Secretary in Pre-dental society
- Secretary (2012), Webmaster (2011) in a Biology club
- Peer advisor in the Biology advising office
- External Relations Coordinator at a Korean non-profit organization at the university
- Marketing project director at a Korean non-profit organization
- Leader role to raise enough money to feed over 100 homeless people
- Summer Intern (2 summers) at an engineering company
- Summer 3rd grade Sunday bible study teacher
- Lectured in front of hundreds of elementary school students regarding chemistry demonstration and tornado safety
- Member of several honor societies

My goal DAT score is 22/23+. But let's finalize my list assuming I'll get a 21.
I'm confident that I'll be more than ready by the time I take my DAT.

I took a quick look through the list of schools in the ADEA guide book and marked the ones I'm interested in.
Also, I should state that I have no financial restraints and can apply everywhere if I need to.

My list:

UCLA **
UCSF **
Midwestern - Illinois
SIU
UIC (state school)
University of Maryland
Boston University
Harvard **
University of Detroit Mercy
University of Michigan
Creighton University
Columbia University **
NYU
Stony Brook
University of Pennsylvania **
University of Pittsburgh
UConn
Temple University
University of Washington

** = My dream schools. I would sell my soul to get into these schools.

Do you guys have any more recommendations (schools with high reputations) or whether my list is bad?

How are my chances for these schools?

I would really appreciate your input! 🙂

edit: I should note that I'm planning to specialize. 🙂

Cross off Washington. They are not OOS friendly. Wiche states only for OOS.

Yikes that worries me. Hope you are joking.

Have you ever seen the UCLA dental clinic? lol. A friend of mine goes there and even though its a highly reputable school the clinic there is not the best. I have been inside the clinic myself. I heard Harvard's clinic is pretty crappy as well.

We all have our preferences. Maybe he has family or secret lovers in LA, SF, NYC, Philly, and Boston. I mean, who doesn't these days?

but on a more serious note; your stats are great, and if you are aiming for a 21+ here are the schools I think you should apply to:

UCLA **
UCSF **
SIU
UIC (state school)
University of Maryland
Harvard **
University of Detroit Mercy
University of Michigan
Creighton University
Columbia University **
Stony Brook
University of Pennsylvania **
UConn
UoP

Okay, maybe not my soul. Haha.

No, I haven't seen the clinic in-person. Is it that bad? Good thing I don't desire a fancy clinic. The most important factors for me include: reputation, education, location, and campus. I hope they're not like DUNGEONS, though. 🙁

Hmm...
Secret lovers... so overdue! Haha.

Cool, thanks! Is there a reason you got rid of Pittsburgh and NYU? I was thinking of applying to Pitts and Temple because I've heard that Philly is a great city. 🙂
I will definitely add UoP to the list! Especially because I've heard that the admission rate is almost 100% (might be a myth) after you get an interview.
However, I've heard that the school is not fit for people who plan to specialize.
Any opinions on that??

I think the rest of your application looks good, but it's really hard to give an opinion on your chances without you having an actual DAT score. It's a big piece of the overall puzzle. Get everything on your application turned in as early as possible, but make sure to be ready for the DAT.

Also, careful with your soul.

Best of luck.👍

Coolio. Thanks! 🙂
