Many states allow as many attempts at passing Stepck as possible, given that it is within a 7year deadline to get a license.

My 7year deadline is up in May11,2011.

Ross University, the school I am 7 weeks away from finishing rotations with refuses to grant me another attempt.

A state that allows more attempts cannot grant me another attempt; a school must do so.

So my mistake has been staying with the Ross system and not seeking a transfer.

Does anyone have suggestions on other schools I can try contacting to get sponsorship to take this exam by May 11, 2011?

Any contacts and phone numbers would be appreciated.

Slowlybut......

Coming from someone that has a similar background to yours in not being able to pass USMLEs with multiple attempts, its time to pull the plug on your hopes of finding a residency. The folks on this thread have given you sound advice.

With regards to you talking to attorneys about seeking injunctions against Ross to let you take Step 2 CK one more time, this is futile as well. Just because these states say you are allowed 6 attempts per step does not mean you should go all the way to the bitter end. Are you actually paying your attorney to write letters on your behalf to Ross? I hope not, because they are just taking your money, the way Ross has.

At this point, you need to quit this dream of becoming a physician in the US and figure out a way to pay back your student loans. I thought my total of $300K was bad, but your $522K+ is worse. If you end up defaulting on these student loans, it truly will be game over for you, no matter what you think you can still do.

I am at about $2K per month on my student loans. It looks like you will be at about $3K or so. As you can see, you need to find a very high paying job or marry rich because you will be in the hole very soon.

At this point you need to start building your "work" resume and forget about your "medicine" resume. You need to find a legit/paying job ASAP, because as your resume stands now, you are unemployable. I was in your shoes in 2007 and decided to call it quits and find a real job. I too went to a caribbean school, but my school graduated me after 7 years in 2007. They did not require me to pass Steps 1 and 2. My saving grace is having an MD after my name.

Don't even bother with transferring to another school, because they will make you do another year of clinicals and make you pay more tuition. That is not a good option for you.

From reading your other posts, it seems you may benefit from professional, therapeutic help. These delusions have got to stop. Maybe you are able to do this because you stand to inherit a lot of money down the road, but if you don't, these games do need to stop. Sorry to be so harsh, but its time.

I have a psychiatrist unlike the other med students who think they don't need one. I am where I am by virtue of a lot of mishaps and hazing; but I am here..continuing on.

I am not giving up and throwing in the towel because
2. I was a top IVY grad from a great school (which was better than any med school education in the country).
3., just because two parents almost died last year
4. and I got scores subpar to what i need

no I have too much experience to give up.

and No i do not need meds either.

I am 7 weeks away from graduation at Ross. Unfortunately I have failed step2 4 times. in 4 different cities. My 7 yr ecfmg deadline ends May 14th 2011. I will probably miss that deadline. ECFMG allows students that miss their deadline to have their 7 yr deadline reset to start date they pass the CS.
So I passed CS in dec 2006. I technically have until dec 2012 to retake step1 and take step2 again. anyone else had to do this?

Anyway, My main problem has been the ANS CNS physio pharm. I will need to restudy all pharm and physio again. Has studying for step 1 changed since 2005?

I'd rather not be inflammatory anymore, and am hoping shelly will, well, go away.

i deleted my original post.

I missed the 7 yr deadline to pass Step1, cs, step2ck by ecfmg 7 yr rule.
Now I must retake Step 1 and Step2 ck by dec 2012. and I have to go to court to be able to do that. I passed Step1 in 2005. my question is : how has studying for step2 changed since 2005? How should I prepare for these two back to back in 2012?

ECFMG by mishap.

why take up people's valuable time to answer your questions that were already previously answered some where else,,,? you missed it so do what it takes to re take them again,,nobody on here has the answer you re looking for again like they didn t have before when you asked this awhile back sorry but move on

Current triad for successful (i.e. passing) Step 1 is: FA, RR Goljan (blue margin notes), and UWorld.

No idea about Step 2 though.

1.) I am sorry that you didn't pass the Steps in a timely fashion but I can guarantee you that your a done deal as far as getting many state licenses as well as even getting a residency to look at you(even the lowest tier FM residency will cringe when they see the length of time you have been out of medical school as well as how many attempts you have taken on the steps as well as your length of time out of medical school!)
2.)I notice that you brag about your Ivy League education, that may be part of your problem->You have an inferiority complex. That is like me coming into med. school with the assumption that because I went to an old established PA school than med. school should be easy for me(I didn't and it sure as hell isn't)
3.)You should hang your dreams up and become a Nurse or NP and HELP YOUR FAMILY. I wouldn't recommend you for PA due to it being too competitive for you to even get glanced at these days. Also that massive amount of student loans will murder you without some type of high paying job(I don't know if these qualify for the 10% of your income maximum I heard about?)
4.)You need a Mental Health evaluation because it sounds like your having delusions.
5.)Keep the posting to this one thread or I have a feeling that moderators will place your account on hold again or suspend you totally this time. You appear lucky that they haven't don so these days already.

wow, thats a little cold. i thought we SDNers were a bit more cordial than that😛

Slowlybutshelly, rollo's right, thats the very basic trend for study. I think if you go through 4-5 pages of this thread you'll seem to get the hang of what the average person here is doing:

Hope this helped!

I don't get it either. If you passed Step 1 in 2005, you still have until 2012 to pass Step 2. And still WITHIN the 7 years.Since we're in May 2011 this gives you 1 year and 7 months to prep for Step 2. You need like 2-4 months for both Steps from what I have read. What are we missing from your info?

You really don't want to know.

Ok. I am a Duke grad 88 with a neuroscience degree. I have a tulane M.P.H. in international epidemiology. I am a former peace corps volunteer (east africa). I was wrongly dismissed from a new england med school in 1992 (entrappment in physio department and accused of academic dishonesty). never recovered from setup and entrapment. I tried to come back to my home state and transfer but a few evil phone calls were made and I ended up in the caribean; having to repeat my entire medical ecuation over again. I am 532k in debt.

I passed step1 in may 2004. cs in dec 2005. I was under a 7 year time limit to pass step2ck by may 14th this year. it did not happen. last year in march I was given a deadline by my school to take Step2ck by september. well in april, my mother was hospitalized with a catastrophic injury. she continues to have major medical problems, with impending gyn surgery next week. she has had two cardioversions to try to stabilize a bad heart rhthym. as soon as she was hospitalized, my father went in with pneumonia; he had to have a thoracentesis. he almost died. he survived.
then my brother was hospitalized with a cavernous sinus thrombosis. 3 hospitalizations within 6 months of my scheduled step2ck. it was too much..and i failed step2ck for the fourth time in november. In retrospect i should have waited to take the exam until may but i felt pressure from Ross.

now what should I/ can I do?

ECFMG says that if I do not pass step2ck by may 14th that my 7 year deadline can be reset to start from the date I passed cs. that was in dec 2005. so technically ecfmg law says that i can have until dec 2012 to pass step1 and step2 all over again. I am willing to do that.

But Ross refuses to grant me permission.

I need to find a school to sponsor me to retake step1 and step2ck by dec 2012.

1. I should never have been a caribean medical student to start with; i should have been able to finish at the us medical school i started in; but the trauma of what happened to me was too much to overcome.
2. us students match without having step2 scores.
3. i have almost passing step2 ck scores.

what can i do to get back on track ?
any suggestions would be appreciated.

GIVE UP. You'll never complete it and you'll never get a residency with your history.

oy my bad.. i assumed you were the OP without looking at the top message.. sorry.. step 1 studying is messing with my head 🙁

like i said time to throw in towel..its not meant to be for you dude,,,accept it the time is not right for you and only you and thats that hey what can you do? It happens...

Close thread time req

there are other options such as teaching, research, pharmaceuticals etc so it might be worth it for the op to continue the legal battle so long as s/he can afford it

I've decided to hijack the thread. Best. Artist. Ever. Period.

ou say that I'm messing with your head
(yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
All 'cause I was making out with your friend
(yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Love hurts, whether it's right or wrong
(yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
I can't stop 'cause I'm having too much fun
(yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

You're on your knees,
beggin' please
'stay with me'
But honestly,
I just need to be a little crazy

All my life I've been good but now,
I'm thinking 'What the hell'
All I want is to mess around,
and I don't really care about
If you love me, if you hate me,
you can't save me, baby, baby
All my life I've been good but now,
whoa 'What the hell'

What,
What,
What,
What the hell

So what if I go out on a million dates
(yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
You never call or listen to me anyway
(yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
I'd rather rage than sit around and wait all day
(yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Don't get me wrong,
I just need some time to play (yeah)

Because I have a chance, I have publications, I have a good resume. I have always been in medicine. and I can do it and my chance is not up until the deadline is over.
and even then I would take it again all over Step1 Step2 and Step3. My family issues are the huge problem here right now.

I concur about the U.S. schools also lacking and indifferent to students. A friend graduated from a certain allopathic school (bought by Touro) in the NYC area. The school officially had a 3 percent fail rate, but my friends class had 10 percent of the class not graduate on time/failed out (an even larger percent had to retake at least one class), dropped out, etc. How U.S. schools had the statistic is not counting drop outs. My friend "dropped out" but would have been expelled anyway. They told him it would be better. Subsquently, when he applied to other health fields and need the former dean (who was known to have a rope around her door signifying she was sleeping) to write a letter if the person had or had not been expelled, she said he would have been if he had stayed. There was no remedial help and a majority of the class was always in the C, B- range. Grad school, particularly med, is a very sick, debillitating envrionment, period. Word will never get out and people will continue to be miserable about it once in. It doesn't have to be that way, but it is.
