need to plan what i should do

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you have the money and will be able to raise your grades, I think the master's program is probably a good idea to make you more competitive.

A lot of different things.

Heck, you could volunteer 4 days out of the week and I imagine that would probably be meaningful.

You could do research.

You could work in healthcare administration, or even just at the front desk of aclinic...

I got certified as an EMT and worked as a triage nurse at a clinic during my off year. Schools seemed to love that.

I took more time off than you, worked in public health, got an MPH. Schools loved that, too. But do what you're interested in. Getting a job in health care is pretty cool. Doing research is even cooler.

Agreed. Doing something that you find interesting is pretty important. True, doing something healthcare or service/research oriented is great, but it's REALLY great if its something you can be passionate about during interviews.

Also, you probably already know, but with a 30 MCAT and 3.45 GPA you'd be pretty competitive for many DO programs. Just sayin

i'm currently a junior with a 3.2 cgpa/sgpa. When i graduate next year, realistically, i can end up with 3.4 cgpa/3.35 sgpa, maybe slightly better (lots of easy stuff left to do). took the mcat last year, got a 30, but i'm gonna retake. i'm definitely gonna have a gap year (applying summer after senior year) so what should i do? I was thinking about a one year masters program but it seems like that wont help much and would only cost more money...any thoughts/ideas on gap year activities besides just volunteering stuff?

Get a job in healthcare, CONTINUE your current volunteering, take on leadership roles, do research, study for your MCAT. That should keep you just enough
🙂

3.45 (best case scenario) and a 30 is a bit on the low side, but still doable for MD.

how's the rest of your app looking? ECs?

also, dont retake the MCAT unless you are certain you can pull off a 35+

needless to say, Harvard shouldn't be on your school list.
