I am in a financial situation where I will have to borrow more than the cap that Medloans has set for medical students to borrow. (Medloans is the alternative loan place that my med school uses for students to borrow their stafford and alternative loans.)
The reason for my high debt is because even though I worked most of the time that I was in school, I had to pay for all of my tuition and fees with loans for my bachelors, post-graduate, and masters degree, and I am married and have a family. My med school is quite expensive too, which hasn't helped matters. I have pared down my budget as much as it will go and still be able to raise my family.
I will meet the cap in the middle of my third year and my problem is that the head of my financial aid department does not want to sign the necessary forms that would allow me borrow the additional money that I need to graduate. Medloans is more than willing to let me borrow the additional money (I have almost perfect credit) but only if the financial aid person will sign saying that it is o.k that I borrow that additional amount that I need.
Does anyone know a way around this? Are there alternative loan places that will lend me money without needing the signature of the financial aid person? Also, do I have to only use Medloans since it is the one that my school uses?
Thanks very much for your input!
