I am wondering if I have a good chance into being accepted into an MD school despite my low MCAT score. It was my second time taking the MCAT. The first time I scored a 492 so I am sitting at a current 13 point increase. Any advice on what I can do additionally to increase my chances as well as any recommended schools with my current stats? Also, should I heavily consider an MCAT retake before the 2020 cycle?

Thank You

You do not need to retake the MCAT. I suggest these schools with your stats:
Oklahoma
Howard
Meharry
Morehouse
UCLA Drew
TCU-UNT
Creighton
St. Louis
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
Rush
Medical College Wisconsin
Oakland Beaumont
Wayne State
NOVA MD
Miami
Eastern Virginia
Georgetown
George Washington
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Seton Hall
New York Medical College
Quinnipiac
Vermont
Apply in June and submit all your secondaries by July.

@Faha

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your input. Could I ask for your reasoning on refraining from another MCAT retake? Also, would I be okay without adding any DO schools to the list as well?

The GPA-MCAT grid shows you have a 90% chance for a MD acceptance. You can apply to any DO schools that appeal to you.

@Faha

The AAMC GPA/MCAT Grid that I’ve checked says a 50% chance with a 3.7 and 505 MCAT score. Am I looking at the wrong grid?

@Faha
I see it now. I’ve never came across that chart. Thank you for your help and input as well as for the school list. I’ll look forward to submitting an early app once the 2020 cycle opens!

If you need help with editing your PS or secondaries, I definitely recommend taking advantage of SDN and the pre-med Reddit. It will help you as you prewrite.
