ok, so im going into my sophomore yeah as a premed student, my grades are good, i got a 4.0 last semester, and im actually studying things over the summer, and volunteering.

however, before college, about the entirety of my senior year was spent smoking week, everyday. i know it was ******ed, and i wish i could take it back, but it bugs me everyday that i used to smoke so much. sometimes i really think that i may of just smoked too much to ever become a doctor, that ive somehow damaged my brain and will never recover. i am not dumb, i was the top student in my bio class, and one of the top in my chem, and most others.

i really just want to know if anyone else out there had a rough beginning, and how they think it affected them in the long run. Any doctors out there used to smoke as an adolescent?

Unless you have an arrest record, it's not going to affect your chances at all. Yes, there are doctors and med students who smoked as adolescents. No one can undo the dumb things they've done. Just keep moving forward from where you are now. You're doing well; just keep it up.

Even if you do have a juvenile arrest record, I don't believe they can ask about any crimes you committed before you turned 18.

OP, you seem to be on the right track and if you're acing college level science courses your brain is perfectly fine. I don't think weed has a track record of killing neurons anyway 😛

My brother was a major pot-head throughout high school and college. He was also a borderline alcoholic towards the end of college. He's now in a prestigious law school and is ranked second in his class, has been published several times, and has won several awards. Once you get back on the right track, you're good to go. Good luck! 👍 :luck:
