So, I am a bio major about to finish my senior year and prior to taking the mcat I had just finished a semester with biochem, biochem lab, human physiology, and neurobiology. Previously, I had also taken classes in cell biology and microbiology and bio was definitely my strong point (SO I THOUGHT) for the mcat. I was scoring highest on my practice tests in the bio section and at times I neglected studying to do more PS and VR since those were my weak areas but I ended up getting crushed on the real thing (8).

I was wondering how I should approach studying this time around. I used the TPR science book for PS, which I strongly attribute to my higher score in PS. Should I be reading the TPR bio book even though it is more detailed or should I use EK? OR should I use one or the other and supplement it with the TBR bio books? For those of you that did use TBR Bio, did it really help? I def could use some extra practice in weaker areas like genetics since i took that class 2+ years ago. any advice would be appreciated!

I didn't use TBR bio for my prep, but am now working with a few students using it and have become at least somewhat familiar with it. It is definitely DENSE compared to EK (which I used). I came from a very weak bio background and was able to learn bio sufficiently from EK to pull a 12 on BS, although it did involve a lot of rereading chapters.

While I recommended TBR for the students I work with, as a bio major who has already done MCAT prep once, I would honestly probably advise EK + EK 1001, with an emphasis on practice through the passages (wouldn't dwell on hammering the content in).
