Neil is 5 years younger than Adam. If in 12 years time the sum of both their ages will be 59, what is the current ratio of Adam’s age to Neil’s age?

I get Adam to Neil's age ratio 3:4. But it says on Coursesaver, it is Adamn to Neil's ratio is 4:3.

This was a stupid question... I realized what I thought was not possible. How do you delete a thread?

i dont get it please explain
Currently:
Let Adam be (x)
Let Neil be (x-5)

In 12 years the sum of their ages is 59.

We can write that as:

12 + (x) + (x-5) + 12 = 59

Simplifying and Solving for x would get you x = 20

So Adam is 20, which means Neil is 15 (because Neil is represented as [x-5]). Which can be reduced to the 4:3 ratio as seen in the OP's coursesaver answer.

20:15 ---> 4:3
