Hi All,

I am interested in hearing about intubating neonates with the McGrath with the blade 1. Relatively straightforward? I have a lot of experience using it in adults. Have very little pediatric exposure, but we do have access to the McGrath blade 1.

Thank you for feedback in advance.

1st - thank you for a non
covid clinical thread, i could
kiss you

i haven’t used a mcgrath 1 - sorry, but i routinely use cmac miller 0 or 1 for babies.

VLS is great for what can be a stressful procedure, and it allows everyone in the room to see and aids communication and teameork

Lol, thanks for sharing your experience! Yeah, I think the ability to share the view with others really facilitates teamwork (i.e. external laryngeal manipulation). I haven't used a CMAC since residency, but if I recall, there is no CMAC-specific stylet (like the Glidescope)...do you use just a regular size-appropriate stylet and mirror the shape/curvature of the CMAC blade?

no need to match the shape of the blade (it's straight), just put a hockey stick shape like you would for a normal DL
