I'm considering going to school at UNC, but I'm wondering how difficult it would be to then take the NERB so that I could practice up north? Does anyone have insight into this?

Whenever I get "why would you want to be a dentist and look in mouths all day" I just reply.. "I can think of a lot worse areas i'd be looking if I were an MD". They smile and agree.

It's not the easiest thing to do since you have to line up your own patients, but plenty of people do it. I might end up taking the NC boards even though i'm in school at Tennessee, I'll just have to spend time my 4th year setting it up.

Adding to that...

I apologize if this is a real stupid question, but I'm confused. At UNC, they take both the state board and the national boards. What is the difference? What would I have to take later to practice elsewhere?

Thanks!
