http://pathologistsaregroovy.org

Cute website but I disagree with the use of the word "groovy." I suspect the person who came up with the site name is approximately 55-60 years old. That is, they were 15-20 years old in 1969.

The only time I hear people use the word "groovy" now is when they are looking at thyroid FNAs and trying to convince someone there is PTC.

That web site is much groovier if you're dropping acid.

I think CAP here is going for the tongue-in-cheek, deliberate retro look, in order to attract the terminally hip and trendy.

Why, exactly the sort of people attracted to pathology!

Another WIN for our CAP leaders, I'd say.

I give CAP credit for trying to make a resource for medical students to learn about pathology, but I don't think "groovy" is a good choice of theme. I find that site vaguely creepy. Also, according to everyone I know that grew up in the '60's and '70's, no actual people, aside from actors on the Brady Bunch, would be caught dead using the word "groovy."

Also, did anyone else check out the "helpful link" to www.thedoctorsdoctor.com? Apparently this is a site made by some dermatopathologist in southern California used to convince patients to send him their pathology reports, which he will "translate" into layperson English - for educational purposes only, of course - for $200 a pop. I can't decide if this is a genius idea to make some extra money or if I'm offended by it. It seems like there are sufficient disclaimers on the website (talk to your doctor, it isn't medical advice, yadda, yadda) that it is probably legal...

Wow. They actually list this site (Student Doctor) as a link for medical students interested in pathology. Are they crazy? What medical student would still go into pathology after reading all the job market threads here. Bad move, CAP. Bad move.

Any medical student who would base their choice of profession on SDN ranting deserves whatever they get, or don't get. I would still go into pathology if I was in med school now. When I survey the landscape it's really hard to see a much better option even if you do like other fields (or other careers even) as much.
