And guess what... I was a bio major :scared:

The thing is, that was over 5 years ago, and the details from those classes have completely fled my mind. Anyway, I took such a wide array of courses... I really don't think "diversity of plants" or "biogeography" are going to help me now on the MCAT.

I pray to god the bio section will have tons of orgo... I'm much more psyched about that, along with physics. There's more logic to those classes, so I'm finding it much easier to retain the info after learning it. It's really true what they say about orgo being "like a language"... it just sticks with me, because all of it builds on top of previous knowledge.

Bio is more plain vanilla memorization, and I find that it's SO hard to make anything stick. (of course, if I were actually using that knowledge on a daily basis as in med school, etc. it would be a lot different). But- just as an example, I was studying endocrine a few weeks ago, and even now, I'm finding it hard to recall all the specifics of the material.

Any tips ??

You should pick up EK's 1001 Bio book. I think that their bio and verbal practice books are very helpful. Just keep going over the material if you must. However, I think doing practice problems is more helpful.

make a story out of the hormones, enzymes, cell cycles, whatever.

ex: start at the mouth for digestion, list all the enzymes and work your way through.
you can do this for many things. just go though the entire process repeatedly and that way you will remember all the steps.

Just talk to yourself a lot. Well, maybe not out loud, but I'd go thinking about what I just read for hours, randomly trying to recall it.

haha.. i used to do that as an undergrad for bio... it was fun.. I'd have this blank look on my face trying to recall a bunch of stuff i just memorized.. people would look at me weird.. and then i'd tell them this is how i study..🙂

That's hilarious. It reminds me of some sci-fi movie or something with an android going "processing"...

That's exactly what it is! My Positronic brain matrix would overload...

(Any Star Trek the next generation fans???)
