Nervous still no acceptance

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm in the same position as you. I think you'll be okay considering you have two II with high yield post interview acceptances. But the consensus is do not stop improving your app until you receive an acceptance.

Hi All,

I am still in the thick of the application cycle for this cycle. I got one II early which I got waitlisted at. In January, I received another 2 II's both at high yield schools (acceptance rate after interview). Do I have a good shot at these interviews or am I just interviewing for the waitlist? Also do schools still send out

My stats are
MCAT 512 (128/128/128/128), 3.65 cgpa, 3.83 sgpa
Chemical Engineering Major
150 hours volunteering non clincial
150 hours clinical volunteering
Are these the only ECs you had or are you hiding some?

Tell us more... are the high yield schools instate publics? When do they typically let students know? Have you followed the SDN posts for their med schools to see their activity?

Have you interviewed at the Jan II schools?

Are you an ORM? if so you school list is kinda eh. When did you submit primary ans secondaries for your schools?

Yes ORM. I submitted mid-august.
Some of your school were really low yield like Drexel, Jeff, and Temple. Not sure why you applied to Vermont. I do think you will get in somewhere. I would just wait.

We used to say, "Interviews three a doctor you'll be". It could be that UCONN is waiting to see if the top dogs will choose to be Huskies or will go elsewhere (Bulldogs, perhaps?). Then you as a second string applicant will be called off the bench. Fingers crossed for you.

I would be so thrilled if this turns out to be true for me!

One of my advisees is a CT resident with LizzyM 78 from top UG. Had interviews at 8 of TOP20 schools, (2 WL, 6 have not released decisions), but is also holding an A at UCONN from back in October. UCONN is a great school at a very good price for IS students (and is most certainly on an upswing IMO in terms of new curriculum and great simulation and ultrasound training for students). Might not be the best fit for him due to not great research mentors in his area of interest, so he will likely drop A if he gets into one of the other schools to which he applied, where there are good mentors. (That was how he chose many of his other schools).

Bc CT is a wealthy state with great public and private schools starting in pre-K, the IS CT med school applicants are a smart bunch, (and there are not an insignificant number, esp from Fairfield county, a suburb of NYC, for whom the IS tuition is not a major draw). Many will also get into some other great schools, including non-rolling ones in late Feb and in March. I expect there will be some good WL movement then. Your stats put you in good position at UCONN, as well as the other 2 schools. Good Luck!

Nope upcoming! I think I have a decent shot at getting in. I hope that Jefferson, Temple, QU, or Dartmouth will bite as well because there cycle and interviews invites run all the way to March.

Ok, since you’re waitlisted for UConn, do you think your interviewing skills may be a little weak?

Do you have a friendly resting face? Do you fidget? Do you give good eye contact?

I have an acceptance elsewhere, but I REALLY hope this applies to my University of Florida waitlist.

I think your odds are pretty good with 3 IIs but you gotta prep hard for your last 2 interviews. An early II from a good school like UConn indicates you are probably a good candidate but the fact they waitlisted you might mean you could improve with interviewing. Look up common med school interview questions and practice with different people

Yeah I think thats definitely was an issue for the first interview. I was bit nervous will definitely be practicing more for this next upcoming one.

Do you have someone who can do a mock interview with you? Set up a camera and record your body language, tone, delivery, etc?

You can give bring up a webpage of possible med school interview questions and have someone practice with you....again, recording the situation for later review.
