so failure of the neural pores to close means an abnormal connection between the antiotic cavity and the spinal canal, that makes sense for the image of the 3 layered embryo bc of the amniotic cavity floating about the ectoderm layer, but in the spina bifida pictures, where would this amntiotic fluid be located? next to the spinous processes?

i don't think you can use the late stage of the cross-section image of the spine and other neural tube defects to visualize this. the spine at that point is already formed, as well as the dura and the spinal cord.
