Hey everyone, i just started my neuro rotation and was wondering what review books people would recommend as well as any advice that you may have.

Neuroscience was one of my least favorite/weakest basic science subject and thus I am very worried about the shelf exam and such.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Blueprints neurology is a good review, along with high yield neuroanatomy. Try the blueprints case book towards the end of the rotation to drill yourself in localizing lesions. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply. Any insight on Case files for neuro? Also, what sources did you guys use for practice questions?

Pretest Neuro is suppose to be strong... i found the questions either too easy or too hard from chapter to chapter... Like half the people in my clerkship used Casefiles and thought it was good, I used Blueprints cause I'm not a case person (i'm also not a paragraph fan, i prefer brs/nms. but there isn't one for neuro...)

CaseFiles was the only book I used and it was plenty. The PreTest questions were good, I thought.

Does anyone recommend using books such as boards and wards, first aid, crush step 2, secrets, first aid etc.; basically comprehensive review books, along with the neuro clerkship or all clerkships in general?

I feel those books in general are good to hit the high points of any rotation, but are not sufficient on their own. Maybe read those the weekend before the rotation starts so you have a good overview to start building on.

I read Blueprints and took Neuroprep.com questions on line which I thought were good.

Blueprints way to go. Case Files was very detailed. First Exposure was okay.
