Is it doable to use neuro made ridiculously simple as my only pure neuro resource for step 1, outside FA, world, and maybe pathoma?

I've heard generally negative things about it from the people who did read it. When I tried to flip through the book myself, it seemed poorly organized, devoid of some core concepts or adequate explanations, and contained mnemonics that were absolutely worthless (Willis the spider? GTFO).

Fix's HY Neuro is a much more esteemed book, and isn't that much longer. It goes without saying that FA has everything you need to do well on the step, so use that primarily, supplement with qbanks, and use review books where further explanations or connections are needed.

Awesome advice, I struggled with how the basal ganglia and some other things in FA were presented so it sounds like I should use HY to supplement it. Thanks!

Kaplan neuro found in the kaplan anatomy lecture notes book is awesome!!!! And then it is summed up really well in kaplan medessentials. Def worth your time to read this section in kaplan. Very high yield

How does MedEssentials compare to FA with regards to Neuro? More details, more organized, etc?

Is it good for 1st time learning?any else nice book for learning at the first time?brs or high yield?but they are from same author ,which is better?

I am still in my schools neuro block and I have started to use HY to finish it out. I looked at a friends made simple and I think HY is better organized. Micro made simple is awesome, however.

def. i think any other source would be too much detail. the combination of medessentials and fa for neuro is the best way to study for neuro for the boards. if you need additional reading in neuro, read the neuro section in kaplan anatomy lecture notes.

the neuro section in kaplan anatomy lecture notes is excellent for learning for the first time and covers everything you need to know for the boards without going into too much detail

I hated this book with a passion.
