I know there were a few comments about this topic in the past, but I'm curious if anyone has actually applied to/trained in/knows anything about/has an opinion on the joint training.

I'm interested even in opinions not based on experience (ruh-roh). 😀

Thanks,
P

As I've said before, lots of neuro patients have psychiatric comorbidities, so having detailed training in both will be to your benefit and probably the patient's since you will be more adept at treating both sides of the coin. There have been plenty of occasions where I have sat listening to a patient and thinking to myself "Boy, what this guy really needs is a good shrink . . . ." Just don't expect to make much extra money because of it.

MD/PhD going into neuro research = HUGE $$.

Right?

RIGHT?!?

Long ago, I gave up ideas of riches. I'll settle for being happy (topic of another thread, I'm sure).

Thanks for the reply. It seems there really are only a few combined programs, and I'm still casting about for what I'll ultimately practice. It is intriguing, though, and I have a weakness for combined programs. 😉

Best,
P
