Probably not really an MCAT question but hell..

I either came across the word last week in a jneuroscience article or in the 1970 biology textbook. But does anyone know the specific term for the cytoplasm of neurons? parasomthign something or somebadsfdslka, please help.

Thanks, but it wasn't axoplasm, I believe the term was refering to the entire cytoplasm of the neuron.

I'm not sure, man. I've read a lot of neuroscience articles in my day and I don't ever remember hearing it called anything other than cytoplasm. Sure they might add "neuronal" in front, but that's about it.

By "parasomthing" I wonder if you're talking about the periplasmic space. That's the area that contains the cytosol between the outer membrane and the inner membrane of bacterial cell.

Also, if it was in the book from the '70's, I'm guessing it is a term that just never caught on.
