If you could pick either case files or blueprints, which one would you do for the neurology shelf? Would love to hear from people who have read both. And would love to understand an explanation for why one is preferred over the other. Thanks!

quite honestly didn't like blueprints at all. felt very superficial which is great if you absolutely forgot everything but won't help teach you the details you need for shelf. I liked pretest a lot for neuro. No experience with case files for this shelf but have generally not liked that series so

I used pre-test and read through case files once prior to taking my neuro shelf. I felt that pre-test had some use but I don't recall anything that was tested from case files, but maybe I just didn't use it correctly! Many in my class used blueprints for what it's worth and thought it was helpful, just depends on if you want more of a text to use

I read a few of the cases in case files and did all the UW questions. Took the neuro shelf without doing the neuro clerkship (don't ask) and scored pretty well. If you take it early in the year (with step 1 fresh) and do UW you'll be fine.
