Neuropathology book for trainees

Could anyone recommend a good neuropathology textbook for trainees (upper-year med students and junior residents)? I'm looking for a book that will show the gross and micro elements of the disease (including non-tumor) without being a bible (i.e. not Greenfield).

I liked the Pattern recognition neuropath book but I was wondering what else was out there.

The neuropathologist at my program recommends Ellison. There's also a CD with all the images as well.

Ellison isn't exactly neuropath-for-beginners, it's more of a reference text, just not as voluminous as Greenfield's. It has pretty good images and reads pretty well, though. As an "all you -need- to know but not a lot else" neuropath book I still like Escourolle & Poirer's Manual of Basic Neuropathology, which has decent images, is much more concise, and generally much cheaper -- it was recommended to me by more than one neuropathologist while early in residency. Depends on what you want out of the book.

I like the foundations series neuropath book. good overview of neoplastic, non-neoplastic, and traumatic neuropath, and not too expensive.

I know prominent neuropathologists who speak very highly of this book. It appears to be out of print, but it was a very good deal - I recall seeing it new for $75 around the time it first came out. Now I can only find it for twice that or more with a quick online search. I also know people who find the Foundations NP book by Prayson to be good value for the money.
