Hi All,

I am applying for neurophysiology fellowship this year and I was planning to apply for programs that provide EEG/EMG mixed curriculum.

I would appreciate your help if you have any recommendations about what programs you think have the best training for neurophysiology fellowship?

Those are kind of a dying breed to be honest, but it depends on what your goals are in terms of how you'll be practicing. There are a few discussions on this forum to this effect, though. If you want to be a true generalist and practice in more rural ish settings then that's a good goal, but if you want to be a specialist then you might as well choose either neuromuscular or epilepsy.

I am planning to practice in both inpatient/outpatient settings and to use the skills of neurophysiology when needed.

If you're going to do inpatient/outpatient then doing neurophys is fine. That being said, it depends on setting (rural vs more populated) and availability of sub-specialists such as neuromuscular/epilepsy docs in your practice if you join a large group. Reason being in large enough groups such procedures are usually funneled to the sub-specialists and it certainly is the case when it comes to inpatient. I'm boarded in epilepsy and do only inpatient, which is why I read my own but none of my other non neurophysiology boarded colleagues do.

For what it's worth it's my opinion (and the opinion of a few others on this board from what I can gather) that in time pure neurophys fellowships will go the way of the dodo, and most people will pick one side and stick to it be it neuromuscular or epilepsy.

Hope this helps!

I did my combined (4 month EEG, 2 month sleep / IOM, 6 month EMG/neuromuscular) fellowship at University of Mississippi. The training was pretty awesome. I really knew that I wanted to move off and do everything and now I do (except i dont have time for IOM).

Hi there

We may still have a spot at Baylor College if Medicine in Houston. I did my fellowship there, and the program has only gotten better/more flexible/better didactics since Dr. Gavvala took over as program director. I’d highly recommend!

I’ll copy/paste some info here, and feel free to PM me.

I am graduating in July and looking for CNP fellowship.
I was going for private practice but last minute felt that I will be in better position to do CNP fellowship.
If you guys know any vacant positions I really appreciate it.

I heard from my PD that CNP mixed model is dying as mentioned by you guys and might not available within 5 years . Largely due to insurance and board policies.
