How much overlap is there in the types of cases?
Do vascular surgeons get to do cerebral aneurysm cases or is that reserved for neuro?
How is there a difference in the level of academic work within the profession?
Is there a large difference in work hours once you reach attending position?

The only surgery I am aware of that both neurosurgeons and vascular surgeons can do is carotid endarterectomies.

If it's above that, a neurosurgeon or an interventional neuroradiologist is going to deal with it.

Other than that, they are vastly different fields. Neurosurgery is a lot of spine and and some crani, vascular is a lot of peripheral disease.

Attending work hours vary so much based on what kind of group you're in, but generally they seem to work the same.
