Guys today was my last day at the course and let me tell you my 3200 dollars have all gone into drain.
1)The batch is of 24 students but there are over 50 students just for practise and there are only 2 ppl who check our work. One is Dr khurana and a dentist named Laura. So we hardly get 5 min a day with him as he leaves by 7 30-8 and 5hrs are of lecture and demo.
2) the course timing is 10 30 but Dr khurana never comes before 11 30. And he starts at around 12. He teaches less of practical work and more of theory. His lectures are of 2 to 3 hrs.
3) He gives demos outside of mouth on a tray so we never know about inclinations and position. We asked him to teach us inside the manikins and he just gave us handouts saying read and do it.
4) Very money minded people. They sell a tooth for 2.5 dollars. Plus the instruments they give during the course are all non standardized. If you want to buy loupes when you attend the course you only can buy from univet which are around 1600 dollars plus taxes. No other guys are involved in the building. So buy loupes before hand.
5) He takes 4 hrs for a restoration. and its like the whole day we just sit and watch what is he doing and listen to the lecture. I travelled from scarborough and i took 2 30 hrs to reach so 5 hrs a day and so i could get very less practice.
6) he is very inclined to punjabis and so if you are not one pls think once before attending.
7)If your work is not good dont attend coz he ignores people who does not have good work.
8) And i being a US student i had asked him to teach me onlays and 3/4th crown and he just told us how to do it in 15 min. No demos. And he wasted my 2 days just for that 15 mins which i would have seen through you tube.

I dont know about other courses but if you are planning to attend this course pls dont. You are wasting your money. You tube is much better.

Hey Dhaval, not sure what has made you feel that way, believe we all were appreciative of the procedures that we learnt.

I tend to completely differ from you on your comments about his inclination towards any particular ethnic group; I think he always maintains a balanced stance with all his students.

I could probably understand your frustration on the live demo for onlay just for yourself. However, your timing for that individual request was not appropriate, considering that he was extremely busy with 50 other students preparing for NDEB…

Most importantly we should not over look the fact that OSTC has the highest acceptance rate of students in all the dental schools across Canada.
I would say please consider talking to Dr. K to help you with your individual needs and wishing you all the very best…

if he was busy then he shouldn't have conducted the course in the first place.. and higher acceptance because of the efforts the students put in there not Dr K. only 10 minutes a day to check preps of students?? are u kidding me?? And pls let others know the truth.. so they don't waste there money on the course

Hi folks, I just want to share my very own experience I took the AFK and skills course at OSTC and did find them extremely valuable. However I would say I had a first hand experience of students talking the way Dhaval is thinking at this moment. My conclusion of the situation is some people may come with different expectations, but OSTC provides ample opportunity to the students those who really want to get the best from it. But there is also a group of students who will just be there to nag or criticize and be part of the gossip that's going around them...

Now I am in a dental school and I can testify to the fact even in school you only learn based on your willingness there is no such concept of hand holding and walking you through steps...being extremely honest I owe a great deal of my success and learning to Dr. Khurana the way he taught us...

Someone is selling hard
You just made an account this month and you think you will convince ppl with a single post???

To be honest, and since I'm looking for bench test preparations courses, I would simply follow Dhaval39 advice and stay away from OSTC.

I can definitely tell from the reviews how bad is the course. 👎

I truly feel sorry for you the way you think - anyways good luck rather keep pushing your luck!

If Dhaval was not happy with the course, he has every right to express his feelings. $3200 is very big amount of money for a student who has to struggle with other expenses too. I totally respect the efforts undertaken by the bench prep classes to help the student and make facilities like these available, so that dental school's bench exam becomes a less bumpy ride. But then the classes should be totally dedicated towards their cause. There should be no hidden charges and the tutor should deliver what he promised on records.

Thats was my point! we dont pay 3200$ to sit there and do everythin ourselves!

LOL!!!! i am pushing my luck??? i just gave my reviews in the public unlike you foolin people over here.. And u dont need to feel sorry for me..

I did my course with OSTC in 2011, Believe me guys it was just a waste of money and time, I used to travel everyday 2 hours and never learned anything and I also accept what Dhaval has mentioned in his post. But now, guys I have joined DSTC (NARESH PLACE) which is 100 times better than OSTC, and believe me guys the tutors at Naresh place are awesome and they give demos one on one basis (not on power points as taught in OSTC) they give demos in the mouth with all proper guidelines or protocol. Every time you request your instructors to see your work he/she will give you individual attention. Many of my colleagues and friends who did OSTC had bad experience and they all joined DSTC (NARESH PLACE) and everyone is happy. Please make sure your hard earned money is invested at a right place and all your dreams come true. My suggestion to all, check both the places and go visit the centers and take wise decision. You do not have to just listen to me or whatever written in this forum.

Also visit, dstcdental.com or dstcdental.ca

Thanks.

In Ontario Simulation Training Center, I too had the same experience as Dhaval. What he told is nothing but the truth. They don't have any instructors except Laura.

You can never expect to learn positioning and bur inclinations unless you learn it yourself. We virtually get no time for practice during the program.

Some candidates are definitely given undue privileges, I don't know if they are punjabis or not. It is better if you watch the youtube videos and practice at home.

If you join, you will be influenced to buy univet loupes which is promoted there. I've heard many complaining about the inferior quality instruments.

If your work is not so good, they never try to help or guide you. The students are doing their best with the help of other resources, and the institute takes the credit.

I am sure that this will earn a bad review for Ontario Simulation Training Center .Get the feedback from others before you join there.

Well I have to disagree.I have been with OSTC and I am really thrilled with the way dr.khurana and his associates are delivering the study material.my concepts about crown cutting and various tooth preparations have never been more clear in my entire dental profession.OSTC takes pains to make you understand the material and all the practical components of it.I am sorry dhaval if you felt dat way but this course has been very very helpful to me.
well yes,Dr.khurana might come around 11 am instead of 10.30 somedays, but he used to be in the class till 9 instead of 5.30 (as per the schedule). So he is clearly compensating around 4 hours more for the half an hour missed.I am sorry if few students felt the other way,I have had a very good and learning experience at OSTC.

And yes absolutely,do not believe hear and say or anything posted here,do your homework, go visit both the places and decide for yourself. good luck everyone. thanks for reading my post.

Spoke to many students regarding this. This seem to be problem of an individual not census.

with all due respect Dr. black may i ask u how suddenly u post after 5 to 6 years and only about OSTC?? and u went through the pain of asking students abt the course?? hmmm interesting!

Lack of instructors is a major problem in OSTC, and lengthy lectures won't compensate for that. It is not the problem of an individual, in fact, most of the students are frustrated and disappointed even though they don't tell it openly. I really feel sorry for the money I wasted there.

BTW I don't understand why you take all the pains to prove it otherwise.

Because was comparing the various courses for a family member and saw your comment.

well I am talking about april 2013.he was very very accomodating for the course.

I had very bad experience with OSTC dental. This guy Dr K is money minded . He is interested only to take the fees from you. Once payment part is done, he is least dedicated towards the classes and practice sessions. Though this is a practical exam, he spoils our time by engaging in taking useless lectures. In fact, Dr K is never available to provide any guidance to the students. No instructors are there except for a lady. Even she is quite reluctant to share the knowledge with others. You may receive a sarcastic answer for many of your genuine queries.Dr K is totally ignorant about the exam protocol and procedures. The guidance I received from there is quite inadequate and misleading. Many of the people who migrate from different countries wasted their hard earned money at OSTC. Never try this place for Canadian NDEB exams.
