Would 15 inch bring me issue with portability? I like 13 inch one but the screen size is kind of small but portability is important for me as well because I'll be walking around a lot.

15 inch will definitely be heavier and obviously a bigger thing to lug around. In my opinion, the bigger screen size doesn't justify the larger price increase from the 13 inch model. 13 inch might look smaller if you're used to a 15 inch laptop but you get used to it and it won't seem so small anymore.

If portability is important, then go with the 13 inch. That screen size is not prohibitively small or anything.

I guess it depends on what kind of bag you plan to carry it in. I've had a 15" MacBook Pro for 6 years, and have never had trouble with fitting it into my back pack.

I've had a 15" macbook pro for the past three, almost four years. I carry it in my laptop backpack and don't notice the weight at all. The screen real-estate is nice too... but at times, it can be a bit cumbersome. When I was an undergrad I had to stop bringing it to lecture because our desks were too small. Suffice to say I plan on getting a 13" next year.....should I get in this cycle.

I personally prefer the 13'' for its portability, price, and comfortable size. My roommate has the 15'' and is happy with that too. You can't go wrong with either. Just go with what you're already used to.

I have a 15 inch pro. While I do like the extra screen space when I'm just watching Netflix, I feel that it's too big for school purposes. It's way too big to fit on the desks in lectures. When I'm studying with friends it often takes up way too much space. The screen space isn't even that much of a difference from the 13. My laptop has started to have some issues and I am actually going to buy a 13 inch new pro instead of replacing it with a 15.

id go with the 13 inch, its just way more convenient weight and size wise when moving it to and from school. I went from a 15.4 -> 13 inch laptop and notice little difference after a day or two of adjustment; the new mbp screen bezels are a lot smaller so the screen "looks" a lot bigger as well

I use a (granted, 2008) 15" macbook pro. This will not last me through medical school if, God willing, I get in. I definitely plan to get a 13" for better portability. I actually use my current laptop for photo editing, and I would still sacrifice screen size for portability. The borders on the screens are so small now that I cannot imagine you'll have any issues with the 13"

13" all the way. Cheaper, more portable, and just more efficient all the way around.

I've had the 2015 MacBook Pro 13 inch since it came out, and I'm thinking of getting the 15 inch because it's one pound more and it's a quad processor instead of a dual processor. This is a similar reason for when I got the iPhone 7 plus this time around, everyone thought it would be too big but it really hasn't been, it's just been better.

I'd go smaller! i have the mabook Air 11" and i wasnt sure if i was going to be happy. but it weighs nothing, i can open it anywhere and not have to worry about it fitting (like on a plane, easily fits in a suitcase, doesnt hurt my back.... i could go on and on)

I used to have a MacBook Pro 15" and now i dont know why i even had it. it was a mammoth. I know you're choosing between macbook Pros BUTTTT i would highly recommend macbook air. I know there is no disk drive but in the four years that ive had my air I have never been like "huh. i wish i had one." If you're really going for portability I'd recommend MacBook Air

If you're getting the new MacBook Pro, then I would definitely get the 15 inch. I was also in your position a few months ago and was scared to change to the 15 inch because I was afraid it would be too heavy but it is honestly so light. The new MacBook pros are the thinnest of all generations and I think you will notice that when you test them out at the Apple Store. Also even tho it is slightly heavier than the 13 inch, the extra screen space is so worth it.

switched from a 15 inch Dell laptop (it was their thinner QHD fancy one, so I would think it's comparable in size to a 15" MBP) to a 13" MBP.

13" is way more convenient and lighter. I have a monitor I plug it into when I'm at home and want more screen real estate. Otherwise, 13" serves me fine (and was a few hundred dollars cheaper!)

Unless you want to do some heavy CPU intensive stuff, the 13 inch laptop will do fine. Also, I would recommend looking at an older MacBook Pro or a PC laptop. The current MacBook models are absurdly overpriced. There are a lot of thin PC ultra books out there that are just as well built and powerful if not more powerful than any of the MacBooks. You could buy a 1000 dollar PC Ultrabook with identical specs as the 1500 dollar MacBook Pro. Just keep in mind that unless you think Apple branding and OS X are worth the additional $$$, or if $$$ isn't a problem, then I recommend the cheaper yet equally sufficient if not better PC options.
