This just came in from ADEA and may be important for those applying in the 2008 cycle.
"All:
In advance of the 2008 application cycle, AADSAS staff has added Preparing for AADSAS 2008 to the AADSAS application website. I encourage you to read through this information and anticipate questions from applicantswere receiving them already. In particular, please review the section about letters of recommendation.
As most of you are aware, AADSAS will implement a new feature in the 2008 application cycle that permits evaluators to provide letters either in hard copy or by online transmission to AADSAS. All letters received by AADSAS will be scanned and converted into electronic documents that will be available to you through the Admissions Officers Portal. (AADSAS will also continue to print and mail hard-copy letters to you as well.)
In developing procedures for this new enhancement, the AADSAS Task Force has recommended that we limit the number of letters of recommendation per applicant to four. If an applicant submits a PreDental Committee Report or Letter, it will count as three letters of recommendation. We understandfrom the Task Forcethat providing additional letters of recommendation can overwhelm an application and really arent necessary.
We anticipate that you will receive questions from applicants about this new limitation and wanted to make you aware of this early. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Chonte James, Director of AADSAS, or me."
