Hello All,
I am so glad I found this forum. Like most of you I just submitted my application to VMCAS. This was my first time applying and I did not know that I would not be able to submit eLOR people and then edit that content. SO I just threw it together thinking that I could go back and fix any errors. Yeah well I can’t and I had two spelling errors in one of the profiles. The help line told me to contact the evaluator and have them fix the spelling probs but I guess she forgot and now it’s gone and I guess there is nothing I can do about it. 😱
Dr. Woods is forever my “Pre-Professional Heath advisor” and she teaches at “Notheren State University”. What are your opinions about that? Those are the only mistakes but are they going to just go “Well, she’s a no-spell check loser” and toss my app in the trash?

A couple of typos like that won't make or break your application. Your personal statement is probably the most important thing to go over carefully, and I'm guessing that you were careful with that. If it's any consolation, it took me a few seconds to even catch the second typo! The human brain sees what it thinks it should see, so maybe they won't even notice if they're reading hundreds of applications.

Point is... don't worry about it. 🙂 You're done! Relax.

Did you apply to OKstate I suppose?

Yup, OSU Go Pokes!
Everyone else applied to so many schools so now I'm like darn...but If at first I don't succeed I'll cry in a corner for a couple weeks then try again next time with more schools.
Thanks for the encouragement
Also, I don't see OSU on a lot of people's lists, what's up with that?

Probably because they didn't want to take the Bio GRE. Personally, I only applied to schools close to my family and most of my family is in the south. (Granted the northern part of the south.)

Yeah, I think the biology GRE is the big kicker. Also, I just don't think a lot of people really want to come to Oklahoma! I keep tellin' 'em it's not so bad, but you know... 😉

Yeah, Oklahoma is seriously an aquired taste, or state, or whatever but It's cool once your get used to it.

I am sure that will prob just be over looked 🙂 I had an extremely huge scare yesterday. For one of my most important experiences, the vet clinic where I worked for two years and the clinic of my eLor Vet, I had entered random text in the description so I could edit the other fields. Well, I went back and added all the descriptions towards the end. The hour before I was going to submit, I looked at the draft and all the description field said:

"Need to edit this like WHOA"

Amazing right? Well, I thought I had fixed it. Then, ALL DAY after I submitted I was freaking out because I couldn't remember actually fixing it. I made my sister log on to my VMCAS for me because I was too horrified to know (I still haven't checked myself). Fortunately, I had fixed it 🙂 That would have at least made me stand out!

I have refused to look at VMCAS since I submitted becaue I figure ignorance is bliss and I really don't want to know what errors I may have made and have to obsess over them for the next 5 months!

I am completely the same way! Though I guess I'll see any mistakes I made when I review what I wrote before interview time (assuming I get interviews....)🙄

Haha, same here! As soon as I submitted, I tossed my printed copy in a folder that's now in a box buried in my closet! 😀

Well, I DID go back and look at my PS, after the VMCAS was submitted, and there IS a huge mistake...the last sentence of my 1st paragraph makes no sense whatsoever--it had been so super-tweaked. Awesome, eh? Awesome to know that I've KILLED myself all summer to gain extra experience and volunteer work and I may have blown it in a single sentence. Well, if I get no interviews, I'll be here next year as the ghost of applications past to warn the newbies to read & reread...
:barf:

Well, at least it wasn't the very first sentence they read, now THAT would be getting off to a really bad start. :scared:

True.
At first I consoled myself with the thought that by the time they reach mine, they'll be so delerious from reading the 60983487 others that they won't notice. On the other hand, they WILL notice when it comes down to me and 20 others for one interview slot! :scared:
