Hey all, I?m new to the forum and the application process, so if you have any words of wisdom for me, that would be much appreciated. I am a couple of years out of school, so I don?t have a network of peers to ask these questions to.

1.) I?m taking my DAT this March and would like to apply for enrollment for the fall of 2005. Am I too late in the game to do this?
2.) When do applicants typically begin applying? I?ve been reading the forum and saw something about a ?second wave? of applications. . .
3.) I?m currently in NY working as a chemist but looking to return to the Midwest. Is dental school similar to medical in that out-of-state applicants are not readily accepted? (specifically looking at Minnesota and Michigan)
4.) How much emphasis or importance does Admissions place on shadowing/experience?

Thanks so much for any info you provide!

Nope, you're more than early.

Start your application in June/July and you'll be set to go.

Yes it is similar, but it's not impossible to get in out of state, especially the two schools you listed. If you are a chemist again I say go for it.

It is required by some schools, and not by others. Do it regardless. Best of luck, welcome.
