New (bad) ABPN board certification certificates

Anyone just get board certified in something by ABPN and got their certificate and noticed that it's formatted differently than the previous versions? I got psych boarded in 2011 and addiction psych in 2012, and in the addiction psych certificate the "addiction psychiatry" is in the middle of a sentence (something like "was board certified in addiction psychiatry on so and so date") written in the same font and not bolded and therefore almost invisible on the certificate unless you stand in front of it and read the whole thing.

Yes, I know some of you will say this is a silly thing to complain about, but doggone it I want my subspecialty to be prominently displayed on my certificate, so at least my patients can clearly see it as they can with my psychiatry certificate where "psychiatry" is bolded, in a larger font, and in a row by itself.

I'll post some pics later today to show what it looks like exactly. It's also quite possible that all the ABPN certificates aren't like this, that it's possibly just the subspecialty certificates, but still it's annoying.

Do you mean the really old orals where you had a live neuro patient in addition to two psych patients?

I took the now defunct orals last year, but I heard the orals in the olden days were much more brutal.

Did you have to do a neuro exam and a proper DDx? Wow, now that's hardcore.

Not quite--our neuro patient was dead.

(OK--I guess I had the new, improved old orals...one live patient and one truly ambiguous video vignette)

I didnt know the orals were different. I had 1 hour of vignettes and 30 min with a live pt with 30 min presentation/questioned.

Was this considered the lite version?

I guess so, that's the version I took too, and the last version of the orals before they disappear (forever).

but your addiction one..i see what you mean..it should say Addiction psychiatry the way the psychiatry one says psychiatry...

Well, no actually I did do a fellowship!

I haven't seen any new board certification certificates for general psych but I assume they look my addiction psych certificate. It seems that they just recently changed the format to allow for more writing about the MOC stuff and also felt that they needed to spell out all four words in ABPN also.

It's pretty lame because in previous years the certificate for addiction psych looked the same as my general psych certificate above except it said "addiction psychiatry" instead of "psychiatry." Not a huge deal, but it just looks lame to have your subspecialty name hidden amongst all the other text about MOC.
