NY already did it. Clearly it's possible.

From what I understand, NY has triplicate requirements. So this might cut down on alot of control volume. I'm only guessing. Maybe somebody has access to this data.

Not anymore. They got rid of that 8-ish years ago.

Im in SC and work for CVS and we are getting a safe just for our drugs that contain codeine and hydrocodon and are only allowed to have 1 bottle of each on the shelf at 1 time. We do about 3k a week in the winter months and 3800 during the vacation months. We are also a 24hr and get alot of ER patients. This is going to suck when wr need to have the pharmacist open the safe everytime we need a new bottle.

and no more refills. patients are going to looooooove that. have to get a new rx everytime.

Happened in NY in February. First few months were a little rough, after that everybody knows the drill and it's no biggie. People pick up an rx every single month for their oxy, so this is no different. Plus there was a long period of warning and notification, so if you weren't completely aware, it was your fault for being intentionally ignorant.

I believe it has to be legislatively approved. . The fact that they have such an established history of c3 use and distribution ... there is going to be some big money coming out against it. Thinking about the profit rx chains will lose is only the beginning.

The amount of labor cost (particularly rph) in processing a c2 is so much higher than for c3-5 .. isn't vicodin a top 5 drug for volume? I imagine that would represent a pretty significant financial impact.

To change a medication's controlled status, no law is required. It is up to the DEA to determine schedules. The FDA is recommending to DEA that hydrocodone should be reclassified to C-2.
