Hello all,

I just wanted to know people's thoughts on the new curriculum Columbia has starting this fall? Do you think this will attract or detract you from going to the school? I know that I have definitely looked at the curriculum and see a lot of great potential and Columbia is my first choice for EHS. Just wanted to know your thoughts.

Applied: Yale (EHS), Yale (EMD), Columbia (EHS w/ cert mol epi), BU(EHI/IHS) all submitted via SOPHAS 11/5
Accepted: BU (1/6)

I think it will attract people. I was looking over the website and attended a grad school fair where Columbia was represented and it seems to be a very strong addition. Plus, I think you can also get a "certificate" now in a sub area in addition to your MPH track.

The framework for the program was nicely organized on the website and seemed to make sense in how it all fit together.

What track did you apply for? I applied to Sociomedical sciences. I think we hear back sometime in March?

The curriculum revision does look pretty good. I think they streamline it more and added options for further specialization which is nice for a resume and those looking for certain skill sets. Looks pretty intense, but that's a good thing. I'm glad it is debuting this fall. Whoever gets in a goes will be the guinea pig class 🙂

I applied for Environmental Health Science with a certificate in Molecular Epidemiology. I'm pretty pumped about the new curriculum.
