Any news on new D.O. schools opening up for this upcoming cycle? Any other new schools possibly taking applicants this summer?

I know Liberty University just opened up this past cycle. Any other fairly new schools taking low MCAT scores? My MCAT score was fairly abysmal and I need all the opportunities I can get in gaining acceptance somewhere...anywhere!

What was your MCAT? Have you done your research about Liberty U?

Though you didn't ask for this advice, I'll say it anyways: Don't rush into medical school because you feel like you have to go RIGHT NOW :scared:.

Chill, take a year off, re-take the MCAT, and do some research into your options. Give yourself the best opportunities possible... unless you really don't care what you do and just want any acceptance.

Real Talk👍👍

Last I heard VCOM's Auburn campus will be accepting apps for its first class.

I also agree with johnamo's advice. However, I am technically a non-trad now. I have worked in multiple fields and have been out of school for quite some time now.

3.58 cumGPA
3.36 sciGPA (may be lower in AACOMAS considering math/calc/stats courses aren't considered sci)

Haha, sorry if my comment came off as insensitive, as your initial post read like you're an undergrad who was panicking due to familial pressure and/or some other silly reason.

You have fine grades. Have you not applied anywhere yet this current cycle? If you're waiting until June/July to start applying, why not take a few months to study and re-take the MCAT? Assuming fine ECs, you could basically get in your DO school of choice... and maybe MD. Even just a few points higher could make a big difference in the DO world!

It would be disappointing if you had to totally limit your options due to one bad test -- you got a great GPA, and it always hurts to see people with great GPAs get dragged down by a bad MCAT.

Are you planning to retake the MCAT?

What's your MCAT breakdown as that can really change your strategy?

You need to apply to the ENTIRE low tier (which includes new schools). I know of somebody with almost the exact same profile as you, received ii's from WVSOM, PCOM-Ga, ACOM, MUCOM, and LMU (and did not even apply to LUCOM). You have a decent chance, but you must submit early and broadly.

All that said, if you raise the MCAT to 27 you will be competitive for a majority of schools.
