Hello everyone,

Today (8/16), i retook the DAT and here are my scores. let me know what you guys think...

AA 17
perceptual 18
Math 16
Reading 16
Bio 18
chem 19
Ochem 14 (ouch)
Total science 17

overall, i think the bio section was easier than last year. most questions were on human body and animals, couple on photosynthesis, AT LEAST 4-5 questions on blood and heart, 1 question on anatomy. some where just give aways.
interesting is that i thought i was doing OK on organic but not good on chem... but it turned out opposite. Gen chem had many things to calculate. know SN1, SN2, and all the reactiosn well.
reading, i got 3 horrible passages with 19 paragraphs each.
perceptual, i could recognize some of the questions... probably from last years exam. apparently they recycle those questions. the resolution wasnt so bad (last year was HORRIBLE)

good luck everyone,

Comet

hi comet and everyone else,

i have no idea how you performed on your 1st DAT, but to be honest with you your scores are pretty though to judge. i hope your GPA is high and i am totally shocked about your och performance. i really wish you the best but if i were you, i would consider taking it again if you don't hear anything from schools within the next two-three weeks.

here are my scores from 8/1/2003

AA 19
PAT 18
QR 17
RC 15 ouch, god this hurts. i know i could have done 19
BIO 21
GC 19
OCH 25
SCI 21

i thought that the natural sci section was totally easy. i was done about 20 mins ahead of time and so i spent that time going over my answers. the PAT part was the most difficult of all. resolution was terrible and there was a cube counting problem that i couldn't even tell how the cubes were put together. the key/hole section was very challenging. on my kaplan practice and topscore i consistently got 22's and so that should tell you how hard the real pat was.

the reading was very hard too. 3 long passages with 19-21 paragraphs each and i ran out of time completely.

math was ok. i don't know why i didn't get a 20.

well good luck to all the people who are going to take it soon. just remember, do nothing else but study for DAT for the last 2 months. 8-10 hrs a day for 2 months will get you ready as long as you remember that there is only one word in your head DAT.
by the way, 8-10 hrs for 2 months includes your birthday, you girl friends birthday, sat, sun, new years, valentine, etc etc. basically you should have no life whatsoever other than the DAT.

trust me, you can do it and you'll be pleased!
