I plan to re-take DAT again (20/18/19). If the new DAT score lower, do you still need to submit to school? Do you have a choice which one you can submit to AADSAS?

18 is right about avg, depends on the breakdown....but most schools weight the AA with higher importance b/c it includes the RC which is probably the #1 or #2 section of importance to most adcoms. I'm would be hesistant to retake aDAT with AA of 20 unless I was 100% I could increase it the second time around. Which is why I asked about the gpa..

I know that UNLV will mix and match sections and take the highest of each section. It still won't look good, however, if you totally bomb parts of the test in attempt to do really well on other parts of the test.

One suggestion is to apply with your scores and after the application is filed and DAT scores are sent retake the DAT (before schools are far into the review process). If you do better, submit the scores. If you do worse, don't bother. The con: It will cost you more and you won't even get the first 5 for free.

If you are very concerned you may be able to try the following…

Make sure the old scores are sent to all the schools (which you probably already did when you took it the first go around). When you register for the DAT the second time around, don't select any schools to receive that score. After you take the second test, you can do one of two things:

1. If the second scores are higher, pay for the ADA to forward those scores to the schools, and they see the higher score.

2. If the second scores are lower, don't pay the ADA to forward the new scores, and the school will only have your old score.

The schools only require a DAT score as an admission requirement. Don't know if they explicitly say it must be the latest one.

Wish I'd known about this before hand. Doesn't really matter now.
