This goes along the lines of eveyone elses questions........
I just gained my EMT certification and I am currently applying to PA schools even though I have not had an opportunity to work in the EMT field yet. I am hoping to start working part time in the Spring semester while finishing my B.S. Does this put me in a pretty good position for entrance into PA programs in the fall semester of 2004?

that's a little light on experience as most programs want several thousand hours. maybe try for 2005 or 2006.

I too just got certified EMT-B, and after six months of volunteering in the local Level 1 ED, they hired me to be a part-time intermittent tech. I'm not quittin' my day job yet; my plan is to get prereqs done and apply for entry in 2006.

If you've got your prereqs done already, you might shoot for starting PA school in '05, and concentrate on experience now. FWIW, I've found that in my area at least, the PA schools want serious amounts of experience; often more than most med schools.

i think you should try to apply anyway. I had friends that got in to PA programs in NY (i think one was SUNY brooklyn) and other PA program in NY that only had about a month or 2 of clinical experiece (~ 200 hrs or so?) - just like you, one finished EMT and applied, the other one finished CNA and both worked for only like a month or 2 when they applied. I don't know how it is now, this was 3 yrs ago but i still think you should go ahead apply anyway, just mention that you are currently working in the field (or plan to).
