New Here!!

Well since you've already started studying for your DAT, I would suggest you take it during your winter or spring break. That way, if you don't do as well as you had hoped, you can re-take it in early summer. Some good DAT materials are Kaplan, topscore pro, DAT destroyer, and i've heard Crack DAT is good also (but I haven't used it). I used kaplan and textbooks to review and topscore pro and destroyer to practice. Start reading dental articles and work on your math timing skills now because it will prove very useful once you take the DAT. Try to get 19/20 on ALL sections of the DAT to be competitive. Some schools have cutoffs for each DAT section and may not consider your application. You will need to devote a lot of time towards studying, so make sure you keep up with that and organize some sort of schedule.

For the application process, go ahead and research which schools you will want to apply to. Also, go ahead and ask profs for LORs because depending on the profs you ask, they may take a while writing them. Send in your AADSAS in May/June...don't procrastinate on that.

For extracurriculars, shadow a general dentist and at least 1 to 2 specialists for about 30 hours each. Also, see if you can get involved in dental research projects or volunteering in dental clinics.

And of course, always check up on SDN because there are always useful threads on here.

Thank you for your advice!! I'll definitely use it
