Hello everyone! I recently found out about this forum, which is helping a lot. I'm a H.S. Senior student atm and trying to practice and learn much about medicine before I actually become a doctor my self.

And one question I got for people that live or work as a doctor in Miami: Is there any chance for as a HS student to be shadowing a Physician? I know that Memorial Hospital doesn't :'(

thanks in advance and nice meeting you all. 😀

Welcome! Hope you enjoy the forum!

About the shadowing, i'm not from miami but I know it can be hard to find a physician to shadow while in high school. Maybe ask around other places or wait until the summer. Good luck!

It's very hard to find shadowing opportunities as a high school student. Focus on grades, start shadowing in college.

didn't you start in high school though? ^ 😉

Assuming you have one, how about asking your own pediatrician? A great start and then see if that pediatrician, as you get more interested, can get a hosipital colleague to let you shadow.

I've tried pumping a little bit of content into here.

It's getting a surgeon to do that. I do have around 800 hours of shadowing experience under the belt. But it can be HARD. Not many physicians want amateur high schoolers in their face when they practice...😀
Oh and Hello!

800 hours as a high school student?
Were you shadowing an American doctor or Pakistani?

It's a Pakistani M.D (studied in the US). He's the chief of Surgery at a hospital here.

Thanks guys, I currently just volunteer in the hospital. Got some pretty got idea of what it is like to be working in the hospital.

No wonder you were able to get 800 hours. I highly doubt a US physician would allow a high schooler (or anyone for that matter) to shadow for 800 hours.
