New issue when sending letters from Interfolio to AACOMAS!!

Hello,

I have filled out most of my AACOMAS application, and last night I requested my letters to be sent from interfolio to AACOMAS. I have followed the guide posted by interfolio step by step (Upload Letters to an Online Application System | Help for Dossier & Portfolio | Help Center), and everything was okay until this afternoon. I have received this error message from interfolio.

I know I can send my letters directly to individual schools but I am applying to 15 schools so that will not be the cheapest option. Is there anyone else having this issue?

wait you're kidding right? how is this possible? the directions on AACOMAS website specifically say that interfolio can be used.
 
Does anyone have any updates on this?

It specifically says on the letter of recommendation portion of aacomas website:

"Yes. If you have letters stored at Interfolio you may have these letters sent directly to your DO programs or submitted electronically through the AACOMAS application. To upload an Interfolio letter directly to your AACOMAS application, you may input an Interfolio-generated email address in place of your letter writer’s email address."

It would appear as though interfolio is still supported, but as for the problem people are having I am curious to know the solution. Seems like we have to wait for Interfolio to sort this out with AACOMAS.

Okay so I just called AACOMAS earlier today and the rep has told me that they're aware of this issue and they are working to resolve it ASAP.
 
what a BS generic answer, don't wait on interfolio, AACOMAS does not care, look what they did about grade replacement so suddenly, you think they care about LOR? Lets be real guys, find a plan B ASAP!
 
How can interfolio answer the question "how long have you known this individual for?" and it CANT be left blank. That would be impersonating a recommendation, for liability that's why interfolio isn't touching any AACOMAS LOR.

Do any of you honestly think AACOMAS is going to fix this in the middle of application season?

This **** just stressed the hell outta me. If I have to re-ask for letters I'm screwed especially for two of the writers because they're not here anymore. WTF
 
I am having the same problem. I have emailed AACOMAS and Interfolio. Hopefully, they will resolve this sooner than later.
 
I got the following message🙁

We’re reaching out regarding your delivery to AACOMAS. Starting with this application cycle, AACOMAS is requiring supplemental questions to be answered in addition to the letter upload. Because of this change, we are currently unable to complete deliveries to their application system.

We are in touch with the AACOMAS team to see if we can have this requirement changed, but at this time, deliveries to their system cannot be completed. We’ve credited your account the cost of the deliveries, so you haven’t been charged.


If you would still like to use your Dossier account to send your letters to AACOMAS, you’ll need to reach out to their support team for an email or mailing address and create an email or mail delivery to send your letters to them directly. The AACOMAS support info is listed below:

Well this is worrisome.

Fortunately the only letter I have in my Interfolio is my DO letter of req, but that physician also sent me a scan of the letter she wrote. And the rest of my letters are in a committee letter packet that my post-bacc program will release when I ask them to.

I've never used Interfolio before, but I can just ask Interfolio to send my DO letter to the individual schools I request, which I understand will cost more, but will be an alternate option?
 
I'm worried because the DO who wrote me my letter is no where to be found and is not responding to emails. It's so hard to find a DO and one to write your letters as it is already.
 
AACOMAS: We're gonna make sure eager osteopathic students are able to apply to all their schools with ease!
AACOMAS to AACOMAS: Give them no grade replacement and screw them over with Interfolio.
 
I'm a little confused, aren't we still able to send letters directly to our schools? I mean, if AACOMAS won't take the letters, then we could just send them to each school on their own, right? It will definitely be more costly, but it could be an option for those of use who can't reach out to our letter writers anymore.

BTW, I am in the same boat as you @DoctorCrush and likely won't be able to re-ask for my letters either...

It costs 4 dollars to send out each letter electronically. $4 DOLLARS. That might not seem like a lot, but med schools apps are expensive as is; i'm cheap and trying to save as much money as possible.

Biggest problem with me is money. it's $4 a letter and I have 5 letters because I don't have a committee letter. So I'm looking at about $20 per school, and if I'm applying to average of 15 schools, it's going to cost me a hefty $300....
 
I get it that it's an expensive process, but I'm just tired of their stupid last minute bullsh*t.

Sorry if I sound like an ass, I'm just broke and damn tired of this marathon. Two of my best friends who started the process with me are longer in the race because of the grade replacement etc. and now potentially more money. Just sucks.
 
I always try to keep high spirits. So I assume AACOMAS will resolve this soon, if not, then I don't understand their reasoning. No offense, but AMCAS has an amazing FAP that allows me to apply to SO many schools, but AACOMAS is a little cheap with their assistance program. If I have to shell out an extra $300.00 like @DoctorCrush said, my ramen intake will be increasing 100 fold :laugh:

Lmao, I deadass have been eating the little sandwiches / ginger ales that the ER has stored for patients etc as my real meal replacements because I had to cut back my hours from work to study for the damn MCAT, and save money for the process because it going to cost an arm and a damn leg.

Just spit water all over my desk. I'm dying over here :laugh: We are in the same boat. I'm about to pick back up on hours in a few weeks, so I'm interested to see how my studying will go. But if I have to look up another recipe on "how to spice up ramen." I'm going to have a mental breakdown.

If you guys do get a response, please update here! I have emailed both Interfolio and AACOMAS as well and am hoping they answer tomorrow. This is definitely a very stressful situation for all of us but remember to stay relaxed and professional when speaking to any AACOMAS rep

Aww, I hope you have a better day tomorrow. If you're working in the hospital, I highly recommend cruising the nurse's lounge this week for Nurse Week goodies! They got green, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, lamb, chocolate YOU NAMEEE IT!!!

So sorry I had to do that haha.

Me too! Studying for Orgo may be the death of me lol. Sadly... I will be starting work in a research lab. Maybe the Professors over the summer will haul in some goodies haha. If not, maybe I can create some type of self-sustaining food pill :laugh:

I just called and they said they are aware and working on the issue. Please try to resubmit through interfolio in next 5-7 days.
I think anyone with this problem should call AACOMAS and see if they get the same response.
 
I also received good news. I called and they stated that this is something they are aware of, are currently working to correct, and that it should be resolved soon.
 
Just talked to them as well! They said they're working on resolving the issue, and to call back around next week to find out if the issue is resolved
 
I called around 12 PM today, I spoke to a representative who said "They are aware of the issue but unsure of IF and WHEN this issue will be resolved" after I asked whether or not this would be actually be resolved. He said there is no guarantee. However, I may have just spoken to someone who didn't want to make any promises or have all the information. He said for now I should contact my letter writers, which for me is highly unlikely that I will even get a response being that I am a non-trad. Thanks everyone for getting more info. I didn't mean to alarm anyone with this but I think we definitely shouldn't sit idle on this matter.
 
Maybe a solution? Ask recommenders if you can have a neutral 3rd party submit them for you? I'm sure you can ask someone on your behalf, that's what I may have to do, if they contact the letter writer, they will vouch for the situation.

What do you mean exactly by third party? Like send them to a friend and have that friend submit them?
 
Maybe find someone who has some credibility to do it, like I said, I would make sure it's ok first to have someone submit it on their behalf. I can't tell you how many letter of recommendations I submitted for one of my professors while I was his TA. Literally I wrote them...

Yes or no, we can still use Interfolio to deliver the letters to the schools individually and not go through acomas?

For the most part yes. I would look at each of the schools you are applying to and see how they accept LORs. (If you google the school name with "letters of recommendation", you can usually find all the info on this quickly) I believe most schools do accept via Interfolio or VirtualEvals, but it is always best to double check.

However, like @DoctorCrush, @leturbinator, and I were discussing in this post, it can be quite costly if you apply to multiple schools, as it costs $4 per letter. For example, if you apply to 10 schools and you have 5 letters, you are looking at an extra $200 out of pocket. I suppose the cost really depends on how many letters you have and how many schools you apply to.
Nonetheless, it's extra money you probably did not intend to spend...

I got the message from interfolio as well saying that they could not send my letters, but for some reason my aacomas online application says the letters have been received and accepted
 
Not to beat a dead horse here but I'm still confused. There IS or ISN'T a way to send letters in my dossier on my interfolio account individually to each school if AACOMAS doesn't get this issue resolved? Isn't there a place in AACOMAS where we have to add information regarding letter writers? Ex: Email, Phone to be reached, etc.?
