Hi fellow SDNers,

I know this has been asked repeatedly but bear with this one more time please.

When is the 2015 mcat being effective from?
My pre-med advisor was telling me that it will be enforced from June 2014 and this really there me off because I was planning on taking the old Mcat in August'14.

Also, nowhwere on the AMCAS site does it say that it will be effective from june 2014, but my advisor was veryyyy confident that it will.

Please share your thoughts and comments..

Moreover, I was applying for the 2016 cycle, so I was wondering whether med schools would want ALL students to have taken the new MCAT?

If your advisor is saying either A) the 2015 exam will be administered starting in June 2014 or B) schools will require the 2015 MCAT only from the 2014 application cycle onward, then your advisor is sorely misinformed, as is common with them...

Your advisor is an idiot. Which is normal.

Pheww! I feel a LOT relieved now...but it saddens me how often pre-med advisors are misinformed -____-
Thank you guys!

Also, if I take Biochem during summer AND do my Mcat prep for test in August is that manageable? Or is Biochem not as intimidating as I think it is?

Depends on the school. professor, and you. Too variable for any of us to say. IMO, you want at least full month of no other commitments to just study for the MCAT, though. This is best done towards the end of your study plan.
